Born in a family of artisans, I grew up admiring hands transforming matter and eyes shining at the completion of work. It was a call I could not escape. Years later, while attending the Faculty of Architecture, I discovered a deep passion for design and an obsession with making architectural models. In my early years as a precarious architect, I honed my skills through courses and internships, exploring new materials and different craft techniques.
In 2016 I met concrete, and it won me over. Is it a material that I appreciate – can you appreciate a material? – for its authentic character. Concrete adapts to and takes shape from the container that houses it, and its porosity, despite affecting its strength, makes it surprisingly alive. Each mark on it tells the story of the influences that change it. A bit like what happens to each of us.
